Software packages for the simulation of electric drives
At SPS IPC Drives, Cadfem demonstrated how numerical calculations can be used to optimize the design and layout of electric motors. Software packages from Ansys and MDL were used.
The software packages Motor-CAD, Motor-CAD EMag, Motor-CAD Therm and Motor-CAD Lab from MDL can be used to design electric motors and generators. Simulations are run and models created with Ansys CFD, Maxwell, Icepak and Twin Builder. Thanks to the interaction of the software packages, the physical behavior of future products can be analyzed, evaluated and improved with both electromagnetic and thermal simulation solutions - from concept design to system testing.
