Nomination Products of the Year 2024
SEW-Eurodrive: MOVIKIT CombiTelescope
The MOVIKIT CombiTelescope software module from SEW-Eurodrive has been nominated in the Drive Technology and Automation category in the Product of the Year 2024 competition. It enables motion- and time-optimized control of load handling attachments of the CombiTelescope type.
A load handling device in small parts warehouses usually consists of a telescopic fork and a belt conveyor. Variants with several belt conveyors are also possible. The MOVIKIT CombiTelescope software module supports up to four belts.
The telescopic fork and belt conveyor are designed so that the telescope moves out in the middle of the belt. When a crate is on the load handling attachment, it is only in contact with the belt. As soon as the crate protrudes beyond the end of the belt, it is in contact with the telescope. During storage or retrieval, the crate therefore only ever has contact with one of these system components, the telescope or the belt. In the transfer area, it is in contact with both components. Therefore, synchronized travel between the telescope and the belt is required here to prevent the crate from slipping or twisting. At the same time, the shortest possible play times are required for the storage and retrieval process. For this reason, the transfer of the crate from belt to telescope and vice versa should be carried out as quickly as possible while adhering to the specified application limits.
A flying transfer of the crate is required at the end of the belt to ensure time-optimized storage and retrieval. The specified application limits on which the movement of the crate is based must not be exceeded. Otherwise, the load could slip and stacked crates could even fall over. The MOVIKIT CombiTelescope software module calculates these required, coordinated movement profiles of the telescopic and belt axes for time-optimized storage and retrieval processes. Only a few parameters need to be set for this, which can be easily measured in the system. All that is required to initiate a storage or retrieval process is to specify the target speed, target acceleration and target position of the telescopic fork. For each process, the trajectories of the telescopic and belt axes are calculated and executed by the MOVIKIT CombiTelescope software module.
Modularly expandable
The MOVIKIT CombiTelescope is used to control a combined telescopic load handling device. This is often used in automated small parts warehouses for storing and retrieving, for example, boxes. The application depends on the design and the application limits. It is therefore not uncommon for an individual solution to be found for this automation problem. The software module covers practically all common designs and is also easily expandable on a modular basis. Despite the wide range of variants, an optimum motion sequence can be created using just a few parameters. This means that important features such as short cycle times or time-optimized loading and unloading processes can be fulfilled for the overall application. The MOVIKIT has tested functionality with a standardized programming interface and user interface. This saves valuable time both during commissioning and diagnostics.
