Automation and security solutions
Intralogistics in focus
Schmersal focused on automation and safety solutions for intralogistics as well as for packaging and food processing machines.
Increasing automation of processes as well as efficient and safe system technology is required in intralogistics. Using a model that depicts various process steps and technologies - such as filling, conveying and palletizing technology as well as robotics - Schmersal will be demonstrating components and systems that both contribute to occupational safety and meet the high demands of intralogistics and the packaging industry in terms of reliability and system productivity. A robot carrying out palletizing tasks was secured on the exhibition stand with solenoid interlocks that kept the safety doors locked until the dangerous movement had come to a standstill. Safety components such as the solenoid interlock AZM201 enable a reduction in downtimes with comprehensive diagnostic functions.
Schmersal also presented a new technology: the position and stack height of the crates palletized by the robot is monitored by a time-of-flight camera. This allows a 3D image of the scene to be generated, which is available as a point cloud. This can be used to determine the positions and dimensions of objects. Software that allows users to define and monitor three-dimensional zones in space opens up automation solutions in logistics and line production.
