Optical sensors in miniature format
With the VS8 series from its optical sensor partner Banner Engineering, Turck offers miniature sensors for precise detection in tight installation spaces or in the vicinity of moving objects.
The VS8 sensors detect very small parts and other difficult objects that easily overwhelm other sensors. The devices - only half the size of a matchbox at 21.1 x 14.6 x eight millimetres - are available with a red laser as well as a red or blue emitting LED and as a through-beam sensor or retro-reflective sensor with fixed or variable background suppression. The models with a red laser even detect multi-colored targets and objects as small as 0.5 millimeters with their precise light spot. The blue LED devices reliably detect targets with dark or reflective surfaces as well as transparent objects - without a reflector.
Holes on the side are designed to ensure easy installation of the sensors in new or existing systems. The dovetail mounting option also allows the sensor to be tilted and swiveled by ten degrees for subsequent precise alignment. Clearly visible status LEDs, easily accessible push buttons and the remote teach option make programming and therefore the entire commissioning of the sensors easier. as
