Economic positioning
The integrated position measuring system IMS from Bosch Rexroth is now also available as IMS-compact for absolute measurement. The non-contact solution with magnetic measuring principle enables robust and economical position detection for linear guides of different lengths and sizes and replaces external, linear position measuring systems.
Numerous applications can now be realized faster and more economically: from efficient position detection in special machine construction to small and large-format applications in areas such as digital printing, battery production and FMCG (Fast Moving Consumer Goods). The newly available module completes the previously available portfolio of integrated measuring systems, which also includes an incremental measuring IMS-compact and two inductive high-end variants for high-precision applications. The compact measuring systems measure the position of the carriage without contact with an absolute accuracy of plus/minus 20 micrometers per meter and a repeatability of +/- 1 micrometer at speeds of up to 5 meters per second. The measuring length can be up to 17.8 meters with multi-part rail sections.
Thanks to the high EMC protection provided by the sensor being fully integrated into the carriage, the magnetic measuring system is ideal for use in linear motor axes. Available in sizes 15, 20 and 25, the IMS-compact impresses with its particularly compact design. The decisive advantage of the absolute measuring function over the incremental function is that the system is ready for use immediately after switching on or after a power failure.
