Displacement and position measurement

Capacitive sensors ensure precise results

Capacitive sensors deliver highly accurate results when measuring the displacement and position of conductive objects. Micro-Epsilon sensors not only deliver precise values in clean environments, but also in typical industrial and production environments.

Capacitive sensors can no longer only be used in clean environments. The sensors from Micro-Epsilon also provide accurate measured values in industrial environments. As the design of the capacitive sensors is primarily passive, there are no temperature-sensitive electronic components. The advantages of this design lie in the long service life and high linearity. The sensors in the capaNCDT series are generally used where high precision and stability are required. The resolution provided by these sensors extends into the sub-nanometer range. The measured values are output via analog interfaces or Ethernet and Ethercat, enabling simple connection to modern machines and systems.

The capaNCDT 61x0/IP is designed as a capacitive displacement measuring system for quality assurance in production processes and for machine and system control. The IP68-rated measuring system is used for numerous industrial measuring tasks. The CSE threaded sensors are ideal for installation situations in which the sensors are exposed to vibrations. They are firmly screwed in place and hold the sensor in position even in the event of strong vibrations, ensuring that the measurement results are permanently precise.

Triaxial design ensures greater accuracy
The triaxial sensor design is a special feature of capacitive sensors. In contrast to conventional sensors, a separately powered protective ring surrounds the capacitor in addition to the sensor housing. This also generates an electric field. This makes the sensors more robust and more accurate, as interference in the measuring field is suppressed and linearity is increased. In addition, flush installation in conductive materials is possible without generating measurement errors.

Patented miniature connector
Micro-Epsilon offers a solution for tight installation situations with its patented miniature triaxial connectors. This variant is used together with thin PCB sensors. At just 3.6 millimetres, the connector is three times smaller than conventional connectors. The overall height of the cable, sensor and connector are almost the same and allow the cable to be fed through without having to drill large holes. The spiral sheathing for the cables used provides additional protection against damage.

The sensors in the series can also be used in highly fluctuating temperatures. At ambient temperatures from minus 270 to plus 200 degrees Celsius, they offer a high temperature stability of 5 ppm. Special designs with ceramic are available for much higher temperature ranges.

In addition to standard sensors, the company offers the option of customizing sensors and controllers, including cable lengths, designs and modified measuring ranges. as
