Sensor expert Leuze electronic is focusing on its expertise in safety at work at this year's trade fair in Hanover. Based on its MLC safety light curtains, the optical sensor manufacturer has developed Smart Process Gating, an alternative to the muting process that does not require signal-emitting sensors. Another safety highlight presented by the company is its RSL 400 safety laser scanner, whose new Profinet/Profisafe variants can be easily integrated into industrial networks. These are also available in an AIDA-compliant version for the German automotive industry.

Another new feature is the combination of RSL safety technology with a high-quality measurement value output for the navigation of Automated Guided Vehicles (AGVs). The measured values are specially designed to meet the requirements of AGV navigation software.

In addition to the topic of safety, smart Industry 4.0 solutions are another focus of the trade fair presentation. Using practical examples, Leuze electronic will show how condition monitoring and predictive maintenance work. Among other things, the sensor manufacturer will be presenting an intelligent sensor cable with "smart core technology" for the first time. This makes it possible to detect an impending wire break preventively and before the sensor cable fails completely. This makes it possible to plan maintenance intervals, thus avoiding cost-intensive unexpected system downtimes.

Leuze electronic will also show how sensor data can be globally networked and made available across different locations, applications and company boundaries using OPC UA and cloud services. In addition, trade fair visitors will be able to see the use of augmented reality data goggles, which can simplify commissioning for the installer. Device parameters and reading fields of the barcode reader are displayed on the Holo-Lens, resulting in improved reading quality and reduced commissioning time. pb
