Robot-assisted laser marking system

Automated special solution from ACI Laser

A handling system consisting of a laser marking station and industrial robot will be presented by ACI Laser at this year's Dreh- und Spantage Südwest in Villingen-Schwenningen (hall/stand C.105).

The robot integrated in the laser station enables fast and complex movement sequences when handling objects. With its six joints, it can move freely to any position inside the laser station. It independently removes objects from a workpiece carrier and places them back again. As this no longer has to be done manually, the user's work steps and therefore cycle times are reduced.

Furthermore, the robot can rotate, swivel or turn the workpieces so that they can be labeled in all positions and on several sides. This flexibility is the decisive advantage over conventional handling systems. If different components are to be labeled, the robot simply needs to be reprogrammed - no time-consuming retooling is required.

Not only laser marking can be carried out with the robot in the laser station, but other handling processes can also be integrated into the station to make process sequences and checks even more efficient. For example, it is possible to integrate various reading systems that can retrieve or read back and check data by scanning plain text or codes.

The industrial robot is available in different sizes, depending primarily on the required payload and reach. The gripping system can also be individually selected to suit the customer's application, so that anything from components weighing up to 3 kg to delicate workpieces can be picked up. The robot is also integrated into the laser station's safety circuit - the process stops automatically when the door is opened. The robot is controlled via the in-house Magic Mark marking software, taking customer-specific requirements into account.
