Go for #1: the RadiCal 2 centrifugal fan

The new RadiCal 2 centrifugal fan for domestic ventilation and enclosure cooling is here! And with it, a densely staggered series of centrifugal fans that sets new standards. Compared to its predecessor, it is 3 dB(A) quieter with the same size and consumes 18 % less energy.

Low energy consumption is required for devices for central home ventilation and air conditioning, as well as for heat pumps, air purifiers and switch cabinet cooling systems. At the same time, ventilation and air conditioning devices should be compact in order to minimize the footprint or have sufficient space inside for additional components. This calls for compact fans that deliver large volume flows at low back pressure and operate as energy-efficiently and quietly as possible. ebm-papst has developed the RadiCal 2 centrifugal fans precisely to meet such requirements. The latest generation impresses with high volume flows, compact dimensions and pleasant noise characteristics.

New blade design improves aerodynamics
The design of the impellers has been optimized according to several aerodynamic criteria. All of these points contribute to an improvement in aerodynamics and efficiency:

  • Twisted blades that are curved into each other
  • Newly designed shape of the leading & trailing edge
  • Corrugated impeller cover disk
  • Increased strength of the impeller due to resistant composite material
  • Inclined struts on the casing box to avoid backflow areas as much as possible
  • Enlarged intake diameter for higher filling level of the impeller

Significant noise reduction
Thanks to new manufacturing methods, the air gap in the RadiCal 2 has been significantly reduced, depending on the size. This results in less turbulence, higher efficiency and lower noise levels. The FlowGrid preguide grid also contributes to noise reduction, and not just in the lower frequency range.

New generation of motors
Depending on the size, the EC motors for single-phase networks cover the power range up to 170 W. Fans for three-phase networks and outputs of up to 1.5 kW will follow later. In addition to the good noise behavior, the new generation of motors also impresses with its good EMC behavior and durability. Control and monitoring are possible via 0...10 V/PWM or optionally via MODBUS-RTU from the 170 W variant upwards.

Compact and easy to integrate
The new centrifugal fans are highly adaptable for different installation situations. They are available as a motorized impeller, as a centrifugal module with a ready-to-install housing or with a support spider. Three different mounting levels are now available for the compact centrifugal module.
