Change in the Executive Board
Wolf-Dieter Baumann is the new dvi chairman
The German Packaging Institute (dvi) has a new CEO: Wolf-Dieter Baumann, a member of the Executive Board since 2009 and most recently Deputy Chairman of the Executive Board, takes over from Thomas Reiner.
Wolf-Dieter Baumann works as an industry expert for the listed company Deutsche Beteiligungs AG and supports a number of well-known companies in the packaging and packaging machinery industry as a member of the supervisory board. The 61-year-old mechanical engineering graduate has more than 35 years of experience in the packaging industry. During this time, Baumann has worked in the management of major international mechanical and plant engineering companies in Germany and abroad.
After 17 years at Voith, a manufacturer of machines and systems for the paper industry, Baumann was responsible for operations at the Reemtsma Group, among other things, and subsequently took over as CEO of the Oystar Group, formerly IWKA Packaging, a group of companies in packaging machine construction for the pharmaceutical, food and cosmetics industries.
Baumann sees the areas of digitalization and sustainability as a central focus of his future work as Chairman of the dvi: "Precisely because packaging is an indispensable part of the infrastructure for industry, retail and consumers, it must fulfil its many tasks in a sustainable manner. In the area of sustainability in particular, we as the packaging industry must and want to take responsibility and secure the future with innovative solutions."
The nine members of the dvi's Executive Board were confirmed for a further term of office. The Board continues to include Dr. Bettina Horenburg (Siegwerk Druckfarben), Stephan Karl (Tetra Pak), Dr. Andreas Blaschke (Mayr-Melnhof), Wolfgang Hinkel (Ball Packaging), Albert Klinkhammer (Mondi), Torge Kirchhoff (Taxellenz), Fabian Neumann (Mitteldeutsche Erfrischungsgetränke), Dr. Monika Kaßmann (WGFV) and Stephan Wirtz (Jeschenko MedienAgentur). as
