Maier Packaging lays foundation stone for new building
Ground-breaking ceremony at Maier Packaging: with the new 3,000 square meter building, the company is creating more space for further development and a modern working environment in the municipality of Bergen (Traunstein district). The building should be ready for occupancy in March 2019.
A modern hall with assembly, toolmaking, testing, production and a warehouse will be built at the Bergen site. This will be adjoined by a two-storey office building, which will house the administration and the design, purchasing and sales departments as well as the canteen. "During the planning phase, we paid particular attention to the well-being of the employees," says architect Rolf Blank from Blank Ingenieurbüro.
The building is heated and cooled using geothermal energy. Around 50 boreholes were drilled at depths of up to 90 meters for this purpose. This ensures a pleasant climate in both the office building and the hall all year round. The ceilings in the office wing are used to heat and cool the rooms. In the assembly hall, so-called concrete core activation, similar to underfloor heating, ensures pleasant working conditions. This is also a particularly sustainable, cost-effective and self-sufficient way of supplying energy.
As a wholly owned subsidiary, Maier Packaging became part of the Optima Packaging Group from Schwäbisch Hall on June 1, 2018. The two companies have been working together for many years and are now intensifying their collaboration. "The new building is an important investment in the future of Maier Packaging," says Managing Director Alban Hutter . The previous site in Grassau, a few kilometers from Bergen, was no longer representative and no longer met the requirements of a modern industrial company.
Room for growth
"We have the opportunity to grow further at the new location," says Hutter. The company can acquire additional space there if required. In addition to modern working conditions, Hutter expects further advantages from the new building. Maier Packaging will benefit from its location directly on the A8 highway between Munich and Salzburg. In addition to logistics, this also improves the company's attractiveness as an employer. This is because Maier can now also grow in terms of personnel: the new building will allow the workforce to double from the current 44 employees, says Alban Hutter. as
