Hyundai revises three- and four-wheel electric forklifts
Hyundai has revised its U-series of electrically powered three- and four-wheel forklift trucks. The focus of the further development is on comfort, performance and reduced power consumption.
The 15BT-9U/18BT-9U and 20BT-9U three-wheel forklifts in the 1,500 to 2,000 kilogram load capacity range have new high-performance components: These include the Zapi controls from the ACE series, the Schabmüller drive motors and the ZF wheel gearboxes. The new motors are also more powerful (drive motors two times 5.4 kilowatts, lift motor 14.9 kilowatts). Zapi ACE control units in protection class IP 65 ensure improved, smoother control of the motors.
The new electric steering system only consumes energy when the steering wheel is operated, reducing power consumption by up to 33 percent. The steering resistance increases with the driving speed - this ensures safe and comfortable driving of the three-wheel forklift trucks, which can reach speeds of up to 20 kilometers per hour. Another new feature is the electromagnetic parking brake, which is activated automatically when the truck stops without the need to operate a switch. It also reliably prevents the truck from rolling backwards on inclines/ramps.
The 4.3-inch display is glare-free and even easier to read. The driver is informed about all operating statuses, selects from three working modes and receives error messages via code. OPSS system (Operator Presence Sensing System) (lift, travel and mast tilt are blocked when the driver is not in the seat)
Hyundai offers Li-On batteries with NMC technology for all three-wheel forklifts. The truck control system is configured as standard for switching from conventional to Li-On batteries. The masts of the three-wheel forklifts cover the range from 2,700 to 7,000 millimetres - according to the manufacturer, this covers all typical areas of application.
The four four-wheel forklift models 25B-9U, 30B-9U, 32B-9U and 35B-9U cover the load capacity range from 2,500 to 3,500 kilograms/500 millimetres LSP. An electro-hydraulic power steering system, which saves up to 17 percent energy, is now installed on these 48-volt on-board units. New quiet hydraulic pumps are another feature for more power, lower consumption and noise reduction. The 25B-9U is powered by a 720 amp-hour/48-volt battery. The larger machines are powered by 810 (900 amp-hour batteries. Li-On batteries with 564 amp hours (NMC technology) are available for all four-wheel models.
The four-wheel forklift trucks in the U-series are equipped with side battery change as standard, but the option of top battery removal remains in the range. All three- and four-wheel forklifts can be supplied ex works with heated full cabs. The cab door of the four-wheel forklift trucks is optionally available in one or two parts, while that of the three-wheel forklift trucks is always in one part.
Fleet management and better standard equipment
The "HiFleet" fleet management system developed by Hyundai itself will be available on the European market in 2020 for all warehouse trucks and front loaders with a load capacity of up to 25,000 kilograms. The three- and four-wheel forklifts in the U-series will now be fitted with Continental SC18 SE tires as standard for smoother running, comfort and performance. Other tire types (chalking/non chalking) and numerous optional extras are available ex works. as
