Hyster: New cockpit-style driver's cab
Hyster is introducing a new cockpit-style driver's cab for its large forklift trucks. The cab, equipped with new controls, will first be used on the new Hyster H8-18XD forklifts with a load capacity of eight to 18 tons.
The new Hyster cab is designed like a cockpit. To make the driver's work easier, all information is clearly displayed and the controls are easy to reach. The interior features a seven-inch display with touchscreen and rotary knobs on the armrest. A low noise level in the cab helps the driver to remain highly focused even during long shifts.
The cab is designed to enable comfortable working with a special seat construction and generous floor space. "Depending on the operating environment, various heating and ventilation options are available," explains Chris van de Werdt from Hyster. "With a rapid defroster, for example, you can start work quickly even in cold or wet weather. With the air conditioning system, the direct airflow to the driver provides additional comfort and cools the cab down quickly."
The adjustable control arm with wrist pads and touchpoint mini levers (or optional ergonomic joystick) also offers drivers comfort and helps to reduce fatigue. There is also a forward/reverse switch on the control arm/joystick.
The cab also has curved front and rear windows, an armored glass skylight and tempered glass doors with a slim steel frame for excellent visibility. The driver can slide the seat sideways for a view of the fork tips. The sliding seat ensures that the driver's field of vision is no longer restricted by the dashboard. Thanks to the large entrance, the driver can easily get on and off the bike even when wearing a safety helmet.
Forklift shutdown saves energy
"A wide range of equipment options are available to suit every application," explains van de Werdt. "At night, for example, the display can be dimmed automatically so that the driver is not distracted. The controls on the control arm also have backlighting." Energy can also be saved with the automatic forklift switch-off during breaks in operation. The lighting can also be switched off to prevent the battery from discharging. Other customization options include the monotrol pedal, optional passenger seat, automatic parking brake, blue LED pedestrian warning lights, a weight and height indicator, tire pressure monitoring system and a telematics system.
The new cab is installed in the following truck series: H8-12XD6 / H190-280XD, H13-16XD6 / H300-360XD, H6-7XDEC3/4 / H150XD-EC4, H16XD9/12 / H210-250XD48 and H18XD7.5/9 / H360-36/48XD. With a total of 14 models, these replace the current Hyster H8-16XMproduct range. as
