Electric forklift
Off to new electric driving fun
Electric forklift truck. Still has relaunched the RX 60-25/35 series. The new drive concept with two motors, active cooling and shorter power transmission paths ensures short response times and maximum pulling force.
"Using energy-efficient technologies, we have succeeded in developing an electric forklift truck for indoor and outdoor use for loads of up to 3.5 tons with extremely high performance and agility. We are thus promoting the trend towards more emission-free electric forklift trucks and supporting our customers in implementing their green logistics strategies and thus achieving their sustainability goals," explains Thomas A. Fischer, CSO of Still, with conviction. In the 2.5 to 3.5 tonne weight class, the RX60 offers a speed of up to 21 kilometers per hour and even better lifting speeds.
Within the series, customers can currently choose from a total of seven models in the standard and long frame versions as well as tele/niho and triple mast versions. Still has also developed a variant with a load center of 600 millimeters and a higher residual load capacity especially for transporting pallets lengthwise as well as bulky and heavy weights or for use with attachments.
The new drive concept in the front axle relies on two maintenance-free three-phase AC drives with 80-volt technology. In the standard version, the two motors each have an output of 8.5 kilowatts, while the high-performance drive axle with 2x10.5 kilowatts is available as an option. This means that Still has increased the drive motor output by 40 percent while at the same time improving energy efficiency. This has been achieved thanks to new inverters and a design with short power transmission between the inverter, the two drive motors and the pump motor.
Thanks to the new demand-based, active cooling system with robust and low-maintenance fans, high thermal stability is guaranteed even at maximum handling capacity, which also enables continuous operation in sprint mode. Overall, the RX 60 achieves high driving performance that is on a par with diesel or LPG forklift trucks. The typical electric driving pleasure is expressed through sporty acceleration, agility and a more dynamic start-up behavior, as well as fast electric braking or quick changes of direction. The lifting speeds with load have also been increased by over 20 percent in the high-performance version thanks to the more powerful 25-kilowatt lifting motor. Both motors have traction control and are driven in opposite directions at full steering lock.
The quick-start mode, which makes the vehicle ready for use as soon as the driver has taken a seat, and the automatic spring-loaded parking brake save even more time. The driver achieves greater productivity by using the parallel operation option for simultaneous steering, lifting and tilting with or without a load.
Various options are available for the cab and the operating unit of the truck to enable the driver to work without tiring. The cab with generous legroom and headroom also offers plenty of space for tall drivers. The large cab door, a grab handle, a large, low access step with a non-slip steel step edge and a non-slip rubber mat ensure comfortable and safe access to the vehicle. From the driver's seat, the operator has a good view upwards through the protective roof with additional glass pane as standard. A low front structure and the optimized positioning of controls and displays provide an improved view to the front. The cab can also be optionally equipped with heating or heating/air conditioning.
Still offers the greatest variety on the market when it comes to operating the truck, ranging from various foot pedals and switches on the steering column to four different control options for driving and hydraulics: multi-lever, mini-lever, Joystick 4Plus and a newly developed fingertip control unit for precise and safe load handling and fast direction changes.
A fully graphic color display, the Easy Control unit, provides all information in any language. Large favorites buttons can be used to activate individual vehicle functions, even when wearing work gloves. The pre-shift safety check provides additional safety, with a guided dialog on the display to support the driver in the daily inspection of the truck before use. For smart networking, the RX 60 can be connected via an optional interface to the Fleetmanager for access control and evaluation of vehicle or operating data, or to Still's online portal, nexxt fleet, for intelligent fleet management.
Due to the high energy efficiency of the RX 60, many two-shift applications will no longer require battery changes, promises Still. For operators who still need to change the battery, this is done using the tried-and-tested sideways principle, whereby the battery door has been further optimized. The battery door, made of four millimeter thick sheet metal, can now be opened horizontally up to 180 degrees to the rear. The actual change can be carried out by just one person in a few minutes using an electric pallet truck. as
