The force control required for the precise pressing process is ensured on all models via a load cell on the push rod tip. This enables high-precision positioning control, which in turn allows simple push force adjustment and position monitoring. The application software enables two selectable control modes: speed control or force control. Furthermore, a stop method can be selected from the four stop conditions - "position", "travel", "load" or "incremental load".

The Scon controller associated with the servo press has interfaces to all common fieldbus networks, such as Profinet, CC-Link or Ethernet/IP. The application software offers a total of eight different press assembly processes, which include a range of press movements. In positioning mode, the positions (target position, speed, acceleration) can be entered into the controller via corresponding position numbers and then each number can be specified externally via an input/output signal for axis operation.

Preventive maintenance
Preventive maintenance functions have also been integrated. For example, there is a warning signal when a motor overload is detected. The temperature fluctuations in the motor are permanently monitored. The number of cycles and the distance traveled are also recorded in order to monitor the maintenance cycles.

The servo presses also have high-resolution, battery-free absolute encoders. This means that this new product series also benefits from all the advantages of this technology: no need for reference runs and the use of a home sensor, no need for battery maintenance and easy restart after an emergency stop. Thanks to the repeat accuracy of plus/minus 0.01 millimetres, precise positioning is also possible.
