Toshiba study
Flexible working as a driver of innovation for IT and technology
IT is on the rise. In the course of digitalization, it is now also reaching sectors where it was previously only found sporadically. And according to a Europe-wide study by Toshiba, German companies are investing heavily. But money is not the only driver of innovation. By Jörg Schmidt
Mobility continues to be one of the driving forces of the business world. However, as the technology landscape continues to evolve, the demands placed on companies are also changing. Employees want more flexible working models so that they can organize their time more freely and choose their place of work flexibly, depending on their requirements. In order to remain competitive, companies are striving to successfully integrate mobility. The latest Toshiba study shows that almost three quarters (74%) of all German companies surveyed will increase their IT and technology budgets in 2018.
Key areas of IT
Data security (66%), cloud-based solutions (57%) and improving productivity through IT (56%) are the key areas for IT investments in Germany. The increase in spending is directly related to the rising number of mobile workers within companies. The more employees work remotely, the higher a company's budget for new solutions and technologies. 67 percent of German managers stated that at least one tenth of their employees mainly work remotely. Companies mainly rely on notebooks and smartphones, which they make available to their employees.
The future begins now
In addition, organizations also showed increasing interest in innovative solutions such as mobile edge computing devices (11%) and thin or zero client solutions (11%). Larger companies (> 500 employees) in particular are leading the way in the introduction of wearables in the workplace: 77% of respondents predict that smart glasses will be used in their company within the next three years. The driving factors here include increasing employee productivity (43%) and the increasing amount of data that the IoT (Internet of Things) brings with it (41%). In addition, technical innovations in the field of augmented reality (AR) and assisted reality are decisive for 35% of respondents. For 29% of German companies, the introduction of the new 5G mobile communications standard, which opens up completely new application possibilities, also plays a role.
How does Toshiba react to this?
For more than 30 years, Toshiba notebooks and technologies have set the standard for innovation, quality and reliability. So it is only logical that Toshiba supports companies with innovative solutions so that they are well equipped to face the challenges of the future. That's why Toshiba offers powerful B2B notebooks such as the new detachable Portégé X30T-E, which offers employees optimum connectivity, performance and mobility. The intelligent assisted reality solution Toshiba dynaEdge with smart data glasses AR100, which is used in industry, production, remote maintenance or warehouses, enables hands-free working. The Toshiba Mobile Zero Client ensures maximum security on the move: company data is not stored on the device, but in the cloud or on the company server. Toshiba therefore offers the right solution to suit the customer's needs. ag
