Handling of Raman spectra and databases

WITec, the manufacturer of 3D Raman imaging systems, is launching TrueMatch, a new, powerful software component that makes it easier to analyze Raman data. With TrueMatch, users can search for suitable reference spectra in spectra databases to identify their sample components and also create their own collections.

TrueMatch makes it easier for users to interpret their Raman images.

TrueMatch has been integrated into the WITec Project FIVE software as a stand-alone tool so that the experimental data from Raman microscopy can be directly incorporated into the post-processing using Raman databases. For each spectrum, the degree of agreement with reference spectra from in-house or commercial databases is displayed directly. The new software enables rapid evaluation because it can analyze several spectra simultaneously and identify the components contained in the samples.

Mixed spectra present a particular challenge when analyzing data. With the unmixing procedures programmed in TrueMatch, the pure spectra can be filtered out and analyzed. The result is a Raman image that precisely visualizes the distribution of the molecules contained in the sample. Users can also save data sets, create their own database and use this valuable resource for analysis in further experiments.
TrueMatch is compatible with various databases, in particular the spectra libraries from ST Japan can be accessed directly.

"TrueMatch makes it easier for users to interpret their Raman images. With this new software, Raman spectra databases can be searched more easily than before and can also be created from the user's own data. It is the perfect complement to the standard analysis methods that WITec has implemented in its Project FIVE software," says Olaf Hollricher, Managing Director and Head of Development at WITec, summarizing the advantages of the new software.
