handling award - Readers' prize

Readers choose small robots

Readers have their say in the Readers' Choice Award. They vote for the best product in the competition in an online survey. This year, their choice fell on the HORST600 industrial robot system.

This year's handling award readers' prize was won by Fruitcore Robotics with its new HORST600 industrial robot system. The Constance-based company was already successful last year as the best start-up. The company has now outgrown this phase.

The system is an extension of the product family with a modular small robot. The smallest HORST (Highly Optimized Robotic Systems Technology) is particularly suitable for applications in confined spaces and can also be mounted on the wall or ceiling for even more flexibility in use. With a footprint of 382 x 200 millimetres and a reach of 578 millimetres, the industrial robot can move payloads of up to three kilograms quickly and precisely - and with a repeat accuracy of plus-minus 0.05 millimetres. The industrial robot is available in two different versions: HORST600 is used in industrial environments, for example in metal processing, logistics or the plastics industry. Typical tasks include pick & place applications, palletizing or loading and unloading machines. The HORST600lab version, which stands for "laboratory", is specially designed for laboratories, research facilities, pharmaceutical and chemical companies.

The system initializes automatically after it has been secured with four screws. Program blocks can then be created using drag-and-drop. This is done by moving the robot's virtual twin on a multi-touch screen at the touch of a finger. Combined with operation using the playback method, sequences can be created in just a few minutes.

Compared to other robots with a workspace size of 600 millimetres, the system is significantly more efficient and dynamic; axis 1 of the industrial robot in particular was deliberately designed for efficiency and speed. It can be operated without programming knowledge, while at the same time offering extensive options for controlling the entire process. Interfaces that can be configured with the simplicity of a smartphone app and the connection of safety components via the safety controller with performance level d complete the system. dsc
