Balluff at the SPS

Annina Schopen,

Focus on intelligent networking

At SPS 2023, everything at Balluff revolved around the topic of network technology. Industrial image processing and other solutions for the factory of the future were also on the agenda at the trade fair stand. Network technology - the intelligent connection between individual components of control systems - is an important part of the portfolio in terms of data generation, transport and processing. Balluff recognized the potential of seamless communication early on and promoted the IO-Link communication standard for a fieldbus-independent point-to-point connection between intelligent sensor and automation system. Since 2021, the company has been offering the wireless variant IO-Link Wireless; it is used wherever classic data transmission was not possible or only possible with difficulty. In addition to selected IO-Link sensors, the new generation of IO-Link hubs plays an important role: The BNI I/O modules BNI impress with a new housing concept with recyclable and more environmentally friendly materials, among other things. They also offer an introduction to IO-Link technology - and uncomplicated integration thanks to multi-protocol functionality and IIoT interface with MQTT protocol. One advantage is even easier handling.
