Expanded portfolio of AMD Ryzen devices

The CX5600 series Embedded PCs from Beckhoff are equipped with AMD Ryzen processors and complement the existing CX51xx and CX52xx devices with identical housing dimensions.

The new devices also offer the option of connecting a CX2500 expansion module on the left-hand side, thus increasing flexibility in use.

The new series currently comprises two device versions: The CX5620 has an AMD Ryzen processor with a clock frequency of 1.2 GHz, type CX5630 has a corresponding 2.4 GHz processor. Both DIN rail-mountable embedded PCs are characterized by low power consumption and fanless operation. As basic equipment, the devices offer two independent GBit Ethernet interfaces, four USB 3.0 interfaces, one DVI-D interface, a multi-option interface that can be flexibly assigned ex works and 4 GB or 8 GB RAM. A CX2500 module can also be added on the left-hand side, allowing the system to be expanded with additional PC interfaces (e.g. two additional 1 GB Ethernet ports) or fieldbus interfaces.

TwinCAT 2 (32-bit) is still supported with the CX5600 series. However, it is possible to switch to the more modern TwinCAT 3 (64-bit) at any time. With both TwinCAT 2 and TwinCAT 3, management in the TwinCAT real-time kernel ensures that there is sufficient time for the user interface (HMI) in addition to the control tasks executed in real-time. Thanks to the high graphics performance of the graphics kernel integrated in the CPU, even sophisticated visualizations with modern user interfaces can be implemented. The CX56x0 devices are available with Windows 10 as well as with Beckhoff's own TwinCAT/BSD operating system.
