Central machine monitoring for an entire plant

GFT Technologies is implementing a proof of concept for Schinko that centrally networks the housing manufacturer's machinery using the IoT platform sphinx open online.

Schinko manufactures housings for machines and devices in Neumarkt, Austria, and wants to collect and evaluate the production data generated centrally. To this end, all systems used in the plant, such as punch laser and bending machines, are to supply information to an IoT platform. "Fast and precise production controlling is an essential part of our company's success. In order to significantly reduce feedback and thus intervention times in our production, we have been looking for an experienced implementation partner for real-time machine data acquisition since mid-2018. We finally found one a few months ago in GFT," reports Gerhard Lengauer, Managing Partner of Schinko.

GFT is implementing the PoC on the basis of the IoT platform "sphinx open online", which is being developed by the GFT subsidiary in-integrierte informationssysteme. It meets the requirements of Schinko, which was looking for a flexible and expandable system for machine connection and monitoring that can map various use cases in an industrial environment.

Extensive data analysis

The platform analyses and visualizes the production data on a central website and displays material consumption, machine wear or capacity utilization, among other things. The key figures obtained in this way are used for a continuous improvement process, whereby the type and depth of information can be defined individually for each machine - from the number of strokes of the punching head to set-up or program runtimes.

The PoC is implemented in systematically consecutive steps. While GFT's experts connect the various data sources and create suitable dashboards and interfaces, they build up the necessary process-related expertise at the customer's site in parallel. As soon as the architecture and integration concept are in place, a functional prototype is created that works with real data and provides selected users with role-specific information. dsc
