Technical center rooms expanded

Robot carries out dosing tests at Viscotec

Viscotec has purchased a new Kuka robot for its Customer & Innovation Center (CIC), which opened in September 2017. It complements the pilot plant rooms for precise customer trials.

The CIC's technical center provides the conditions and sufficient space for customer tests and trials. Viscotec recently decided to purchase a new Kuka robot to expand its service. The KR 30 has six movable axes and weighs 635 kilograms. With a position repeatability of plus/minus 0.06 millimetres, the robot reaches a maximum speed of two meters per second and can carry up to 30 kilograms. The maximum reach is 2,033 millimeters.

The robot is primarily used to test applications with larger components in which a complex contour is to be traversed with a longer dosing bead. Curves or gradients on the component pose no problems. The robot can also work with both 1K dispensers and 2K mixing heads.

Viscotec focuses on solving problems for its customers' applications that transport, dose or process viscous or viscous materials in fully or semi-automatic processes. In addition to applications such as laser cutting and forging systems, the robot can also be used for adhesive and sealant applications and is therefore suitable for dosing tests.
