Medium load class
KR Iontec: Kuka launches a new product series
Kuka is launching a new product series on the market. The KR Iontec follows on from the KR 60-3, is particularly flexible and is designed for use in classic and digital production environments.
According to the manufacturer, the KR Iontec can be used in any installation position: on the floor, on the wall or in an inclined position. It also offers the option of changing the payload from 30 to up to 70 kilograms with the robot installed. Thanks to its long reach of up to 3,100 millimetres, the ability to work particularly close to the robot itself and the enlarged working area underneath the robot, the KR Iontec makes optimum use of its working area. The robot's reduced space requirement thanks to a 30 percent smaller footprint and the ten percent slimmer interfering contour also enables a compact cell design.
In its class, the robot offers low maintenance requirements. Maintenance costs are reduced, among other things, by the fact that the robot requires fewer spare parts and the oil only needs to be changed every 20,000 operating hours on average. The reduced energy consumption resulting from the improved drive technology and the reduced weight of the robot also reduces running costs. Technical availability is over 99 percent and the Mean Time Between Failures is around 400,000 operating hours, Kuka promises.
Motion modes
The KR Iontec is ready for use in both classic and digital production environments and is equipped with various motion modes. These software add-ons allow the robot to be flexibly adapted to different production processes at the touch of a button, so to speak: The Performance Mode ensures high performance, dynamics and efficiency as standard. Path Mode enables exact path travel at all speeds as well as absolute accuracy and precision. Cycle times can be minimized with Dynamic Mode. The KR Iontec has been available to order since January 2020. Delivery of the first models is scheduled for April. as
