Gery Colombo is a new member of the F&P Advisory Board

Gery Colombo, a pioneer of rehabilitation robotics, has joined the advisory board of robot manufacturer F&P. Colombo revolutionized rehabilitation in the healthcare sector 20 years ago with the company Hocoma - and believes F&P can do the same.

Gery Colombo smiles when Lio greets him. The orange and white care robot speaks to him fluently in Russian, which the engineers at F&P have taught him. "Thanks to the interplay of cloud computing and artificial intelligence, Lio is strong in networked learning, making it very adept and flexible," says Colombo, who holds a doctorate in electrical engineering, in an interview. Gery Colombo has been a new member of the F&P Robotics Advisory Board since the beginning of the year, where he heads the Care Robotics Committee.

The company F&P develops robots for various industries; Lio, for example, supports specialists in caring for elderly people in hospitals or care homes.

Colombo himself is a pioneer in robotics, the company is pleased to report. With the company Hocoma, he revolutionized rehabilitation in healthcare by launching the first robot, the Lokomat, on the market. This enables patients to learn to walk again. Colombo is convinced that F&P is now at a similar point in geriatric care as his company was 15 years ago. "Robots will be used in geriatric care. And Lio is unbeatable there in the long term." The shortage of skilled workers and demographic change make innovative solutions in this area indispensable.

As an Advisory Board member, Colombo has therefore set himself ambitious goals: "I want F&P to remain the global market leader in the coming years." Hansruedi Früh founded F&P in 2014 and now employs around 50 people in Glattbrugg and sells robots in Switzerland and abroad. "I'm really looking forward to working with Gery, who will be a huge boost for F&P Robotics." as
