Meusburger is optimistic about 2021

The Austrian company Meusburger, manufacturer of products for tool, die and mold making and mechanical engineering, is looking positively to 2021. This is mainly due to the new office building in Hohenems, the numerous digital solutions that have been newly developed and further developed for customers and the product diversity as a full-range supplier in tool and mold making.

After a challenging 2020, the company is optimistic about the future. The focus is on the construction of a new office building in Hohenems, where important preliminary work already took place in summer 2020. Meusburger recently received the positive building permit, which was followed by the start of construction. The sales building planned for the first construction phase offers space for 250 employees. The first 200 employees from the Sales, Marketing, Product and Knowledge Management departments, who are moving from Wolfurt to Hohenems, will move in by the end of February 2022 at the latest. The total investment volume for the additional site is around EUR 20 million. "We are delighted that the new building in Hohenems will ensure that we remain in Vorarlberg in the long term and are very optimistic about the future," says Managing Partner Guntram Meusburger.

Investing for the future

A further step towards a successful future was taken in spring 2020 with the introduction of new business software. Despite the uncertain economic situation, investments were also made in the area of production and the company's own digital solutions. These are constantly being developed and optimized by the company itself. The path of digitalization is to be pursued further in the coming years, resulting in the implementation of numerous interesting projects. As a result, the company is well equipped for the future and strategically very well positioned to provide customers with long-term, sustainable support as a full-service provider in tool and mold making.

2020 better than expected

Meusburger reported turnover of around € 261 million for 2020, which corresponds to a drop of around 10%. "In addition to the still tense economic situation, the conversion of our company software and the coronavirus pandemic had a negative impact on our financial year. Thanks to a positive development in the final months of 2020, the decline in sales was ultimately less than expected in the summer," says Guntram Meusburger. Nevertheless, the company had to make personnel adjustments over the summer and in the fall. The number of employees was reduced from a total of 1,750 to 1,670. According to the company, this was necessary in order to remain on a sound economic footing and secure jobs in the future.
