Grinding and milling software
Balancing tools in just a few minutes
Cutting tool manufacturer Fraisa claims that the new tool balancing function in Anca's ToolRoom RN34 software has reduced set-up times from hours to five minutes.
The product is a purpose-built software package for the aerospace, mold and die, general machining and power generation industries. Customers can improve productivity or minimize chatter through the intuitive design of high-performance, complex milling cutters.
"ToolRoom RN34 is the differentiator for many end mill manufacturers in the industry. It enables customers to design complex geometries using software to increase tool life, productivity, cutting volume and the quality and precision of the workpiece," says Thomson Mathew, Software Product Manager at Anca.
For example, the full radius option with constant twist is replaced by a graphical drag-and-drop designer. This full radius tool type with optimized irregular twist curves to reduce vibrations and almost instant visualization can be achieved simply by switching from the 2D projection of the cutting edge to the 3D projection.
Douglas Franke, Fraisa Production Manager, says: "With Anca's balancing software, we can usually balance a tool within five minutes. Some of our more complex tools can take a little longer - up to 20 minutes. This has drastically reduced our set-up time on the machine, which could previously take up to several hours."
