Zimmer Group celebrates 40 years
Günther and Martin Zimmer founded Zimmer Technische Werkstätten in 1980 - now the Zimmer Group is celebrating its 40th anniversary.
From a cowshed to a global player - this is the success story of the Zimmer Group in a nutshell. In 1980, Günther and Martin Zimmer, who were interested in technical processes from an early age - out of necessity, so to speak - founded Zimmer Technische Werkstätten to finance their own farming business. In an old converted cowshed in Rheinau-Freistett, they worked together with their father on a standardized gripper that would facilitate production processes in industry and could be used in a variety of ways. This idea was the breakthrough and laid the foundation for the international success of what would later become the Zimmer Group.
In its anniversary year 2020, the Zimmer Group employs around 1,200 people worldwide and is now an internationally active manufacturer of automation, machine and furniture damping components as well as process technology. In addition, the Zimmer Group is an important partner for system solutions for numerous well-known national and international companies in the fields of mechanical and plant engineering as well as the aviation, automotive and furniture industries. The Zimmer Group stands for innovative strength "Made in Germany" and makes a sustainable contribution to the growth of its customers with technologically high-quality products, 12 international subsidiaries and a sales network in 125 countries.
