VDWF Annual General Meeting 2024
Man as a solution
At the end of April, more than 220 members and partners of the Association of German Tool and Mold Makers (VDWF) gathered for the 31st Annual General Meeting. 57 new members introduced themselves, and Vice President Anton Schweiger and CFO Kathrin Schumacher were unanimously confirmed in their positions.
In his opening speech, association president Prof. Thomas Seul addressed the future viability of the industry: "Without tool and mold making, nothing is possible. Plastic or metal - these are malleable materials, but they can only be processed into everyday objects with the valid means of production of the toolmakers." This key role must be carried forward as a self-image. As processes in companies are becoming increasingly digitalized and automated, the working atmosphere is also changing as a result, says Seul. It is therefore crucial to put people at the center of all considerations. After all, they should benefit from the newly created freedom and be able to use their valuable working time where they can make a significant contribution to value creation with their experience and communication skills.
Seul also presented his vision of a future Europe: it must be possible for tool and mold making companies to operate sustainably and competitively - with fair structural framework conditions and affordable ancillary costs. Only in this way - and the VDWF is also bringing this to the attention of state and federal politicians - can the business location be secured.
Another highlight of the event was the election of the Vice President and the Chief Financial Officer. The re-election of incumbents Anton Schweiger and Kathrin Schumacher for a further three years was unanimous. "For the association's management, the election result represents a clear commitment from the members to our work on the Board," explained Thomas Seul, who is looking forward to continuing the trusting cooperation with the proven line-up.
The participants were able to get to know each other and exchange ideas at the get-together the evening before. As at the association conference itself, host Knarr provided refreshments and a suitable supporting program. The insights into the production and logistics of the standard parts manufacturer during the company tours were an interesting part of the evening event for the guests.
VDWF Managing Director Ralf Dürrwächter emphasized the importance of a strong community and a culture of interaction for the future viability of tool and mould making companies. "Our members use events such as the Annual General Meeting to exchange ideas - and this is also where real friendships are formed within the industry." This open interaction with one another is crucial for moving forward together in the German-speaking region.
