"MiR is a leader in the rapidly growing market of collaborative, autonomous, mobile robotics. Similar to Universal Robots' collaborative robots, MiR's collaborative mobile robots lower the barrier for large and small companies to gradually automate their workflows. There is no need to employ specialist staff or redesign existing processes. Combined with a fast ROI, this opens up a significant new automation market. Building on the successful path we have taken with Universal Robots, we expect to leverage Teradyne's global capabilities to extend the reach of MiR."

In spring 2015, Teradyne acquired Universal Robots, based in Odense, Denmark, for 285 million US dollars. MiR achieved an annual turnover of 12 million dollars in 2017, tripling its turnover compared to the previous year. In the first quarter of 2018 alone, MiR's turnover amounted to 5 million dollars.

Thomas Visti, CEO of Mobile Industrial Robots

"Joining Teradyne will allow us to accelerate our investments in the areas of design and development. This will not only add value to our customers, but also further strengthen our position as the market leader in autonomous, mobile industrial robots," says Thomas Visti, CEO of MiR. "Teradyne's global reach, world-class engineering and support capabilities, financial strength and a proven model to leverage these strengths will help us grow in new and existing markets worldwide."
