SCOPE cover of the year 2017
Vote for the most beautiful SCOPE cover
At the end of the year, SCOPE readers were able to vote for the most beautiful cover image from the past year in an online poll. It ended in a close neck-and-neck race, but first let's take a look at third place: July. The motif looks rather unusual for SCOPE and yet is irreplaceable in modern manufacturing - it shows a close-up of a disk laser from Trumpf. The disk as a laser medium is intended to ensure brilliant beam quality. It is used in TruDisk lasers with a power range from 1 kW to 16 kW for various processes such as laser welding and cutting - but also cladding, hardening and generating 3D parts.
The second-placed June cover, which shows a high-bay warehouse in which a storage and retrieval machine from SSI Schaefer is in use, narrowly missed out on first place.
The flying chips on the cover of the August SCOPE were the most popular motif. The milling cutter shown here follows the machining strategy optimized by the SolidCAM software iMachining 3D.
Prizes were also raffled off among the votes - the winners were notified and can each look forward to a 16-piece 1/4" socket set from Carolus. There are still 10 months to go until the cover vote for 2018, but until then there are now new prizes to be won in the SCOPE competition.
