Schmalz grows and takes over Binar Handling

Schmalz acquires the Swedish company Binar Handling and its four subsidiaries in Europe and Asia, thereby strengthening its market position in ergonomic handling technology.

Binar Handling manufactures handling systems for loads weighing up to 600 kilograms. The development and production company, headquartered in Trollhättan, Sweden, previously belonged to the Argynnis Group. The German Binar Handling GmbH is based in Staufenberg near Kassel and has another branch in Untergruppenbach near Heilbronn - lifting solutions and load handling attachments are designed, manufactured and sold at both locations.

"Binar Handling perfectly complements the Schmalz portfolio for manual handling with its balancers, crane booms and various end effectors," says Dr. Kurt Schmalz, Managing Partner of J. Schmalz GmbH. He adds: "We are thus significantly expanding our leading global position in ergonomic handling technology". Schmalz plans to retain the Binar Handling brand and continue to grow with it in the markets. Mattias Lindh, who has been responsible for Binar Handling's business since 2018, will remain CEO. With the takeover, the Schmalz Group will grow to around 1,700 employees at 23 locations worldwide.

Binar Handling began developing and manufacturing ergonomic lifting and handling solutions in 1979. The goal: to make lifting processes both easy and safe - true to the motto "Beyond Gravity". The Swedish company and its international subsidiaries have succeeded in achieving this in companies in the automotive industry, aerospace technology and industrial production, as well as in the food, pharmaceutical and chemical industries. One special feature is the rail system, on which the lifting devices follow every movement in the X and Y directions with motor support - even over long distances.

With the acquisition of Binar Handling AB, Schmalz will offer solutions for sensitive balancing and handling in the future, for example for applications in battery production or logistics.
