Plastics specialist Röchling has created the position of Chief Information and Digital Officer (CIDO). The position will be filled by Klaus-Peter Fett, who most recently worked as Industry Leader at Google in Germany. He will take up his position on October 1, 2018.
"We see the digitalization of our company as a decisive prerequisite for the future success of the company and want to drive forward the activities that are already underway in many areas of our Group in a targeted and energetic manner," says Prof. Dr. Hanns-Peter Knaebel, CEO of Röchling. The company is all the more pleased to have gained a renowned and knowledgeable digitalization expert for this challenging task. "Klaus-Peter Fett's previous professional positions predestine him for the task of launching new business models within the Röchling Group at high speed, transparently communicating successes to our Group and fundamentally initiating a new way of thinking," says Knaebel. As a Google manager, Fett has primarily supported manufacturing companies in driving forward digital innovations and digital transformation.
Klaus-Peter Fett will be responsible for the Röchling Group's digital core team, which will be based in Berlin and Munich in future, and for Group IT. After studying economics and computer science in Stuttgart, the 49-year-old held various positions at IBM from 1993 to 2004, most recently as Director Software Sales for a German industrial customer in the IBM Software Group EMEA. In 2005, he moved to the software company Mercury Interactive Germany as Manager Strategic Accounts Financial Services, which was taken over by Hewlett-Packard Germany in 2006.
In 2010, Fett joined Google, where he primarily advised and supported companies in the manufacturing industry with headquarters in Germany on the use of cloud technologies as the basis for digital transformation. In 2016, Fett subsequently took on the role of Head of Innovation and Collaboration for the Germany, Austria and Switzerland region. Most recently, as Industry Leader Google Cloud, he was also responsible for German industrial customers.
At Röchling, the new Chief Information and Digital Officer will report directly to CEO Knaebel.
