Robot boom also at Fanuc
New series for new applications
Fanuc Germany is still programmed for growth: The "Offensive 2022/2023" led to an increased business result. Turnover in the past financial year amounted to 236 million euros. Compared to the previous year, this is an increase of 22 percent. This means that the record year of 2018 has almost been reached again.
Robotics was once again the strongest division in the past financial year. Robomachines and Factory Automation made a pleasing contribution to the overall result. In order to be equipped for the future, the Neuhausen site is being further expanded. The new building is nearing completion. Investments were also made in charging stations and the use of renewable energies.
Lightweight robots are gaining in importance
Ralf Winkelmann, Managing Director of Fanuc Germany: "The robot market has continued to develop for us over the past year." The classic industrial robots continue to dominate both in terms of unit numbers and sales, "even though the lightweight robots of the CRX series in particular are gaining in importance." These new robot series are a supplement to the conventional robot models. Based on previous experience, CRX robots are often used in the third shift or as a mobile supplement, while the yellow industrial robots are usually used 24/7 and perform cycle time-sensitive tasks.
Traditional markets are changing
The traditional markets are strongly influenced by changes in the automotive and supplier industry. Numerous new projects and entire factories are shaping this change and are driving the growing demand for robots. In other sectors, such as the food industry or intralogistics, the shortage of skilled workers is driving automation.
Fanuc is also responding to this change by adapting its product portfolio. Ralf Winkelmann: "We are constantly adapting our product portfolio to the needs of our customers." This can be new models within existing series, such as the successful R-2000i series robots, the stainless steel version of the delta robots or new series such as the M-1000iA, which was specially developed for the production and handling of battery cells.
Active in training
With the new building in Neuhausen, the company is also expanding its training and development opportunities. The Fanuc Germany Academy will have additional training rooms from September 2023. Fanuc will open its doors for a "Training Day" on July 21, 2023. A total of 150 pupils from five schools in the Neuhausen area will be informed about training courses and Fanuc technology. In the afternoon, a "robot competition between schools" will take place in which the pupils will write robot programs; attractive prizes will be up for grabs.
