Digitization
Sustainability is digital
The motto of Hannover Messe 2024 was Energizing a Sustainable Industry. With numerous research projects, the FZI Research Center for Information Technology presented the possibilities of digitalization on the way to a sustainable and more climate-friendly industry.
To this end, the FZI Research Center for Information Technology conducts research in areas such as mobility and logistics, robotics, energy and production, applied artificial intelligence, cybersecurity and social participation opportunities in a digital world.
At the joint stand with the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), the FZI presented selected projects and demonstrators that showed how more sustainability can be achieved in industry. The exhibits included, for example, the "CoCar NextGen", with which the FZI presented its research vehicle in the field of networked and automated driving.
Equipped with state-of-the-art sensor technology and computing power for complex requirements, the vehicle is not only designed for special test fields, but is also the first vehicle of its kind to be approved for the entire German road network in real, diverse traffic. The modular design allows the test vehicle to be optimally adapted to a wide range of research requirements.
A "Robot-based recycling of e-waste" demonstrator was also on show. Together with selected network partners, the Digital Hub for Applied Artificial Intelligence Karlsruhe presented exciting projects from the field of AI research and application at the FZI stand.
