Participation in 40Factory
Gefran invests in Italian AI company
The automation specialist Gefran is investing in the Italian software company 40Factory and acquiring 22% of the company's shares as part of an equity investment. The investment amounts to four million euros.
The aim of the partnership is to further advance the development of innovative, data-driven process solutions. 40Factory is a fast-growing scale-up in the field of industrial IoT and generative AI. Founded in 2018, the company offers digital solutions that enable industrial companies to make their processes smarter and more efficient. At its core is its own Industrial IoT platform, which can be used to record, analyze and evaluate machine performance data. The portfolio is complemented by a specially developed system of generative artificial intelligence. In 2024, the company achieved a turnover of 1.5 million euros - with cumulative growth of around 50% since 2021.
By acquiring a stake in 40Factory, Gefran is strengthening its expertise in the field of data-based automation. With its sensors and components, the company already supplies key building blocks for industrial control and manufacturing processes. Together with 40Factory, Gefran now wants to develop new solutions for recording, evaluating and using process data. The company is thus positioning itself as a strategic partner for the digital and sustainable transformation of industry.
Added value from collected data
"The transaction represents a fundamental step in our growth strategy," says Marcello Perini, CEO of the Gefran Group. "It has further strengthened our position as a company that not only supports its customers in managing industrial processes, but also in creating value from the data it collects." Collecting, managing and analyzing data is of strategic importance for manufacturing companies today. It enables them to optimize processes, improve efficiency and provides an important basis for decision-making.
