Oettinger is coming
With Günther Oettinger, EU Commissioner for Budget and Human Resources, CeMAT has gained another prominent speaker for the Logistics 4.0 Forum. He will be speaking there on the Monday of the fair, from 17:00 to 17:30.
The forum will be opened by Professor Dr. Michael ten Hompel, holder of the Chair of Materials Handling and Warehousing at the University of Dortmund and Managing Director of the Fraunhofer Institute for Material Flow and Logistics IML. His lecture is entitled "Logistics 4.0: The world will turn upside down - because it can": in 2018, all the technologies will be available to make the fourth industrial revolution a reality. As the driving force behind the fourth industrial revolution, logistics will play a decisive role. Forklifts will become autonomous vehicles, crates will become cyber-physical systems and traditional transportation and merchandise management will become a platform economy. The starting signal for international competition has been given and the winner will be the one who implements digital technologies into new, useful business models the fastest.
