Festo is strengthening its competitive position in pneumatics with the acquisition of Gummiwarenfabrik R. Neddermann GmbH in Altbach in the Esslingen district on January 1, 2026. This strategic step serves in particular to expand the company's expertise in the production of valve seals. These fulfill an essential function in Festo's pneumatic components. By integrating the specialist, the automation expert will be able to develop these components faster and more innovatively in future.

"With this acquisition, we are further expanding our vertical integration and securing valuable expertise," explains Thomas Böck, CEO of Festo. "This investment in direct proximity to our headquarters and our technology factory in Scharnhausen is of strategic importance. It enables us to reduce our dependence on suppliers for these components."

The previous managing director and owner of Gummiwarenfabrik R. Neddermann GmbH, Matthias Knieß, is retiring as part of the takeover. Sebastian Schill, head of Festo's technology factory in Scharnhausen, will take over the management of the company. He will perform this task in addition to his previous function.

"I am delighted that Festo is taking over Neddermann GmbH. From family business to family business. This means that the company and its employees are in the best hands and jobs and expertise will remain in the region," says Matthias Knieß.
