EnerSys presents new energy solutions
EnerSys, provider of energy storage solutions for industrial applications, announces an advancement in Thin-Plate Pure Lead (TPPL) technology with the introduction of an optional Accelerated Throughput Package (ATP) for select NexSys TPPL batteries.
NexSys TPPL batteries equipped with the new ATP offer a significant increase in daily energy throughput compared to standard NexSys TPPL batteries. This makes them particularly suitable for class 1 and 2 applications with higher demands on mileage and range, which previously required a battery change.
This additional energy capacity provided by the ATP upgrade is achieved through improved thermal management. This enables faster and more efficient energy absorption during short charging times such as breaks in operation, shift changes or any downtime.
Improved energy absorption efficiency
Harold Vanasse, Senior Director Marketing, Motive Power Global at EnerSys, explains: "Switching from battery swapping to intermediate charging changes the battery selection significantly. When switching, the battery is removed from the vehicle and charged separately over a longer period of time. This means that the decisive factor is the available capacity - which determines how long the vehicle can be used before a battery change is required. Charging the battery during breaks and other short intervals improves energy absorption efficiency, helping to maintain charge levels. Our TPPL technology, known for its high charging efficiency, is further enhanced with the ATP, enabling accelerated recharging without compromising the maintenance-free experience that is our NexSys battery range. NexSys TPPL with ATP is particularly suitable for applications that require additional energy capacity to support demanding applications and multi-shift operations."
