EMO in Hanover from September 18 to 23, 2023
Focus on digitalization and sustainability
The hot phase of trade fair preparations for this year's EMO in Hanover has begun. On July 5 and 6, the EMO organizer VDW (German Machine Tool Builders' Association) invited visitors to the big preview in Frankfurt am Main. 31 exhibitors at the EMO Hannover, which will take place from September 18 to 23, will allow a look behind the scenes of their trade fair innovations a good ten weeks before the major event.
Almost 70 journalists from over 30 countries came to the preview and asked the exhibitors for details. "The EMO Hannover Preview is taking place in Frankfurt am Main for the first time. The event has a long tradition and is the highlight and conclusion of our EMO Hannover World Tour. Since the beginning of the year, we have presented EMO Hannover 2023 to the EMO community at around 60 events in 40 countries from Japan to Mexico and from Finland to South Africa," said Dr. Wilfried Schäfer, Executive Director of the VDW, welcoming the guests.
Innovate Manufacturing with three mega-themes
His Executive Director colleague at the VDW, Dr. Markus Heering, continues: "Under the slogan Innovate Manufacturing, we have focused on three mega-themes for this year's EMO Hannover: The Future of Business, The Future of Connectivity and The Future of Sustainability in Production. They are intended to show that production technology is not an insider event for experts, but that the industry is making its contribution to solving the pressing problems of our time. And the exhibitors will demonstrate this with their technical solutions here at the preview and at the trade fair in September in impressive variety and depth."
EMO Hannover enters the home straight
A good 1,750 exhibitors from 42 countries are currently expected at EMO Hannover 2023. They will be presenting the entire spectrum of production technology. The focus will be on machining centers and lathes, cutting tools and clamping devices, measuring equipment and control systems, among other things. "The breadth of the technical offering is unparalleled at international trade fairs for production technology," emphasizes Heering. It shows the challenges that exist in production: greater efficiency, more flexibility, better quality, greater accuracy, the integration of AI and comprehensive networking in the factory.
Great interest in sustainability in production
To make trend topics even more visible, EMO Hannover offers various joint stands: Additive Manufacturing, Connectivity, Cobots and Sustainability in Production. "In particular, offerings on new topics such as the Sustainability in Production Area are attracting great interest because exhibitors want to reposition themselves in this field," reports Wilfried Schäfer. The stand is also used by research institutes, which present their sustainability projects there.
Trend forum for the future of production technology
As the world's leading trade fair for production technology, EMO Hannover aims to address all important topics relating to the industrial value chain, present the state of the art and highlight scenarios for future developments. "In addition to the topics mentioned, the focus will also be on recruiting skilled workers at the special education stand. In addition to vocational training, the range of services offered by the Young Talent Foundation for Mechanical Engineering has also been expanded to include further training," explains Markus Heering. The umati special stand will showcase the current status of the connectivity initiative of the mechanical and plant engineering industry as the basis for efficient networking in the factory with a large live demonstration. Finally, the Startup Area promotes forward-looking cooperation with young companies, Schäfer describes two further examples.
Lectures and in-depth presentations
The joint stands will be complemented by two forums in Hall 9 and Hall 16 of the Hanover Exhibition Center. They offer space for presentations by exhibitors on technology topics and for in-depth presentations on special topics that are discussed in the context of Future Insights. The current program includes a conference on business opportunities in the Indian market and two half days entitled "New Digital Work - Opportunity or Disempowerment?". Both will delve deeper into individual aspects of the Future of Business. Further half days on the topics of umati and energy efficiency through digitalization will be devoted to the Future of Connectivity. Finally, presentations and discussions on e-mobility, climate-neutral production, the potential of circular business models and best practices with regard to sustainability in production will address aspects of Sustainability in Production.
The presentations are closely linked to EMO Hannover digital, which has already been launched in the run-up to the trade fair. "Some of the presentations, conferences and key topics will be streamed live or recorded and will be available on demand via our website http://www.emo-hannover.de, just like this preview. In this way, we want to give our exhibitors a wider reach and not deprive visitors, who may not be able to take advantage of everything on offer, of in-depth information and discussions," explains Wilfried Schäfer from the VDW.
EMO drives expansion and maintenance of the international network
The forums and events mentioned not only offer in-depth information, but also promote exchange and discussion among participants. As the world's leading trade fair for production technology, EMO Hannover is better suited than any other trade fair to expanding the international network of manufacturing experts from suppliers, customers and the scientific community. EMO Hannover digital is already making its contribution to this with EMO sessions, digital chats and video meetings in the run-up to the event, even across geographical borders. In addition, all visitors will receive a matchmaking offer when they register online at http://www.emo-hannover.de in the ticket store. There they can enter their profile and interests and arrange appointments with like-minded people after the match.
Four-year break is over
"After a four-year break, EMO is returning to Hanover - with a new concept, a new look and a breath of fresh air," concludes Wilfried Schäfer. "The mood is good. The preview showed that. Our exhibitors and we as organizers are very much looking forward to seeing our customers and business partners again."
