Klaus Conrad, long-time head of Conrad Electronic, will be 90 years old on February 27, 2026. He began his career at the company in 1954 at the age of 18 and took over the management around 20 years later. Conrad is considered a visionary in the company's history: he drove forward the mail order business, automated logistics processes and expanded international activities to the Netherlands as early as 1986, as well as to East Germany after the political transition.

"Klaus Conrad is reliable, charismatic and has a sure instinct for good business," said the Conrad employee magazine from 1980. In addition to economic success, Conrad was also intensely committed to the region. He initiated the construction of the Schwanhof golf course, sports facilities for employees and a day care center for their children. In 1992, he took over and renovated Wernberg Castle, which later became a renowned restaurant with two Michelin stars.

Together with his wife Gertrud, he founded the Klaus and Gertrud Conrad Foundation in 2001, which supports those in need internationally. In his home region, he has also invested in playgrounds, hospitals, care facilities and sports promotion.
