Branch office opened
Epson comes back to Düsseldorf
After twenty years in Meerbusch, the German branch of the Japanese technology group Epson is moving its headquarters back to Düsseldorf.
In the "Trigon" in Düsseldorf-Heerdt, the company will be using around 3,000 square meters of office space that meets the latest sustainability standards. "Working is changing, and with it the demands on a workplace," says Henning Ohlsson, Managing Director of Epson Germany. "The modern office is a place of exchange. In times when a lot of time is spent alone in the home office, personal interaction is a valuable asset. The working environment must promote creativity and communication," continues Ohlsson.
Modern office solutions are shown in action
The new space offers flexible workstations, a work café and modern meeting rooms that are designed according to the latest technical standards and enable hybrid meetings using projection, among other things. The Office Solutions Center was created for customer visits, where the latest Epson office solutions are shown in action.
With the move, Epson wants to set new standards with regard to future working methods and at the same time conserve resources. Commenting on the choice of location, Henning Ohlsson says: "Düsseldorf has the largest Japanese community in Germany. As a Japanese company, we feel very welcome here. We would like to contribute to the community in the future and promote exchange among each other."
Traditional Japanese ceremony "Kagami biraki"
At the opening of the location, the participants were able to experience a traditional Japanese ceremony. The lid of a sake barrel is broken open with a wooden hammer and then sake is served to those present. The ritual symbolizes harmony and brings good luck for new beginnings. The ceremony was attended by Henning Ohlsson, Yoshiro Nagafusa, President of Epson Europe, Yasunori Ogawa, CEO and President of Seiko Epson Corporation, and Josef Hinkel, Mayor of the City of Düsseldorf. The international and national guests also included the Deputy Consul General Maya Mitani, the President of the Japanese Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Düsseldorf Akiro Sato, the Düsseldorf Economic Development Agency and representatives of the Workshop for Adapted Work. Global Epson President Yasunori Ogawa took the opportunity of his first visit to Germany in his role as President to welcome the employees to the new site.
