Sustainable and future-oriented
ASS Maschinenbau celebrates its 40th anniversary
Founded in 1983 in a garage and after several relocations, ASS is now based at the modern and certified climate-neutral site in Overath and offers around 130 employees a challenging and attractive workplace with prospects and topics for the future. ASS serves the gripper parts market worldwide, and has also been serving the American market directly on site for over 20 years now, with >ASS< End of arm Tooling in Plymouth, Michigan. ASS has been part of Indus Holding AG since 2002.
The broad customer portfolio ranges from automotive manufacturers and their suppliers to white goods, the construction industry and aviation, as well as electronics manufacturers, small injection molders and large, highly specialized injection molding companies.
The comprehensive ASS robot hand modular system, which now includes over 2,000 combinable gripper parts, enables users to build a robot hand or cutting station tailored to the task at hand, for example. In addition to the catalog items, over 6,000 special components allow highly individual gripping solutions for customer-specific applications.
Sustainable Made-in-Germany quality
A robot hand base frame is usually realized with the X-profile preferred by the user. In special cases or if the task requires it, this base frame can also be made from round tube profiles or in plate construction. For lightweight construction, ASS uses a carbon round tube profile or fiber-reinforced 3D printed parts. The portfolio was recently expanded with another 3D printer for this purpose.
All ASS components are developed, designed and produced at the Overath site, which has been certified climate-neutral since 2020, thus making a positive contribution to reducing thecarbon footprint.
Ready for the future
In order to meet the quality requirements of customers and materials, ASS is constantly developing new mechanical or mechatronic gripping components that are suitable for the materials to be handled. For example, ASS offers individual and standardized solutions for fibre-reinforced materials in lightweight construction through to battery components for e-mobility.
ASS is now certified climate-neutral for the third year. Our quality management has been certified to ISO 9001 for decades and in recent years the micro system has received an award and our training has been recognized by the Cologne Chamber of Industry and Commerce.
"ASS will continue to build on this wide range of high quality standards in the future. In other words, the ideal conditions for continuing to look positively to the future after 40 years!" says Managing Director Reinhold Ziewers, "Our past gives us the best basis for the tasks of the future!"
