Industrial compressed air technology
Aerzen acquires ACI
Aerzener Maschinenfabrik GmbH (Aerzen) is strengthening its market position in industrial compressed air technology: With the takeover of Air Center International GmbH (ACI), the company is offering compressors from 2.5 to 40 bar, including oil-free and oil-injected solutions, for numerous industries worldwide for the first time.
With the acquisition of ACI, Aerzen is expanding its portfolio to include highly efficient compressor solutions for industrial compressed air applications. The manufacturer of machines for conveying and compressing gases is thus tapping into the business segment above 3.5 bar. Aerzen can look back on more than 160 years of company history and offers customized solutions in addition to standard compressors.
Acquisition of ACI
With the acquisition of ACI, the company is now a wholly owned subsidiary of Aerzener Maschinenfabrik GmbH. The acquisition enables Aerzen to offer a complete product portfolio of oil-free as well as oil- and water-injected compressors for the first time.
Aerzen presented new air compressors in the pressure range from 4 to 13 bar at the Hannover Messe 2025. Until now, the family-owned company from Lower Saxony has mainly been established in the low-pressure range up to 3.5 bar - particularly in wastewater treatment and the pneumatic transportation of bulk materials, powders or foodstuffs. However, higher pressure is required in many industries: oil-free and oil-injected compressed air is standard in dairies, cement works and chemical plants. Aerzen can now meet this demand.
ACI contributes special expertise
Founded in 2008, ACI offers a wide range of compressors: from oil-free and oil-injected screw compressors in single-stage or multi-stage designs to scroll and piston compressors and air conditioning accessories such as dryers and heat exchangers. Applications range from firefighting technology to the railway industry, mining, shipbuilding, agriculture, and medical technology to stationary industrial plants. The multi-stage oil-free compressors in particular are considered to be energy-efficient, and the three-stage units are unique on the market to date.
With over 1,000 customers in 78 countries and a strong partner network, ACI has extensive international experience. Within the Aerzen Group, ACI will become part of the Compressed Air Technology product line at the Oberhausen site and will remain under the leadership of Managing Director Miroslaw Gruschka. The local team is currently being significantly expanded. At the same time, Aerzen is expanding its global sales organization and plans to recruit more than 50 sales experts for compressed air technology worldwide. The starting signal was given in the EMEA region, followed by APAC from the beginning of 2026 and then the Americas.
Aerzen wants to expand its portfolio and strengthen its market position
With the integration of ACI, Aerzen will in future cover compressed air applications from 2.5 to 40 bar, with a focus on the 4 to 13 bar range.
"With this step, we are creating the technological basis to offer our customers all relevant industrial compressed air technology solutions from a single source in the future," says Klaus-Peter Glöckner, Managing Director of Aerzen. "This expands our business area and closes important gaps in our product portfolio. At the same time, we are further expanding our company's expertise, strengthening our presence in core industrial markets and underlining our performance promise: Expect Performance!"
