Smart safety for vertical axes
Gravity-loaded axes in robotics applications must be safe. Mayr Antriebstechnik will be demonstrating at SPS how this can be reliably achieved in smart environments.
Safety brakes such as the new generation of Roba topstop are used for this purpose. Based on the fail-safe principle, it holds loads safely in position in the event of a power failure or emergency stop and can also be retrofitted between the motor and output. The compact module is protected against dust and moisture (IP66) and secures vertical axes even when the drive is dismantled. The Roba brake-checker module, which matches the brake, enables permanent brake monitoring. This allows brakes to be monitored and critical parameters to be detected without additional sensors. In combination with the Roba gateway, the system provides valuable data for predictive machine maintenance, the digital twin and smart production environments.
