Combating the shortage of skilled workers

Wandelbots strengthens its offering for welders

The shortage of skilled workers is a growing concern for companies in Germany and has reached record levels since the beginning of the year. Qualified junior staff such as welders, mechanics and electricians are desperately sought after - worldwide.

Automated processes, such as the solution from Wandelbots, are becoming increasingly important here. The Dresden-based robotics software company has now strengthened its offering for welders: Wandelbots Teaching now also supports the AR2010 from Yaskawa, one of the most widely used industrial robots for welding applications.

When there is a shortage of workers and vacancies cannot be filled, the use of robots is an option. While a robot easily performs heavy physical work and takes on monotonous tasks, employees perform a more varied and physically lighter activity. When used correctly, humans and machines can work together safely. "By adding the Yaskawa AR2010 to our portfolio, we are actively counteracting the shortage of skilled workers," says Christian Piechnick, CEO of Wandelbots.

The Motoman AR2010 6-axis robot from the Yaskawa AR series is one of the most widely used industrial robots for welding applications and is particularly suitable for arc welding large and bulky workpieces. "Our approach transforms welding specialists into robotics experts in no time at all. This saves companies a lot of time and money, as there is no need to invest in intensive further training for existing employees or in an additional specialist," says Piechnick.

Welding specialist becomes robotics expert

The implementation of robotic processes is normally very complex. Experienced developers have to program every work step before a robot is ready for use - high costs and a lack of specialist staff are currently slowing down the pace of automation. This is precisely where Wandelbots comes in with its "Robots for the People" mission: The no-code solution Wandelbots Teaching is based on agnostic software with an easy-to-use user interface that works the same for every robot. Different models from different manufacturers, such as the AR2010 from Yaskawa, can therefore be taught in the same way. At the same time, users are enabled to teach robots independently without any programming knowledge.
