Multi-axis servo system
Short control cycles combined with multiple scanning
The highly dynamic EtherCAT-based servo system can transfer new setpoints from the motion controller in the Industrial PC to the servo drive every 62.5 μs. The AX8000 firmware now also supports the oversampling technology familiar from the Beckhoff EtherCAT I/Os. This allows multiple sampling of the process data within a communication cycle with an oversampling factor of up to 128 and the transmission of all data in an array via EtherCAT. This allows the higher-level control system to transmit several target positions or speeds to the drive within one communication cycle, which the drive then follows. Furthermore, measured variables can be recorded multiple times in the drive and the buffered values can be made available to the control system within a cycle. In this way, for example, a chart in TwinCAT Scope View can be resolved even more precisely.
Synchronization with other drives - with and without oversampling functionality - is easily possible using the distributed clocks of the EtherCAT system. The oversampling method is used in precision processing machines as well as in machines and systems in which the evaluation of high-resolution measured values is a technological requirement.
