Trade fair for additive manufacturing continues to grow

With the further expansion of the process chain and a large number of special topics, Formnext is continuing its pace of growth in its fifth year and consolidating its position as the leading trade fair for additive manufacturing and modern industrial production.

At the end of September 2019, more than 740 exhibitors had registered for this year's Formnext, which means that the trade fair has already exceeded the total number from the previous year by 17 percent around six weeks before the start. The gross area booked of more than 50,000 m² also already exceeds the size of Formnext 2018 by 35 percent.

With these figures, Formnext not only underlines its importance as the industry's most important international trade fair, but also continues to be the fastest growing technical trade fair in Europe. "With a wide range of solutions as well as established and completely new special topics, Formnext 2019 is once again the global focal point for additive manufacturing and modern industrial production," says Sascha Wenzler, Vice President, Mesago Messe Frankfurt. Whether software, digitalization, pre-processing, AM manufacturing solutions, post-processing, surface treatment or quality assurance and metrology - the complex world of additive manufacturing and its processes are at home at Formnext.

Formnext will feature exhibitors from 34 nations. The international exhibitor share of around 55 percent reflects the global significance of Formnext. 285 companies from 29 nations will be presenting their products and services at Formnext for the first time. 65 percent come from abroad, with companies from China, the partner country USA, Great Britain, Italy, France, Spain and the Netherlands being the most strongly represented.

The exhibitors offer solutions, products, services and advice for a wide range of industrial 3D printing applications in a wide variety of sectors and user industries. These include mechanical engineering, automotive, aerospace, medical technology, dental, construction, oil and gas production, shipbuilding and jewelry. AM service providers have a special role to play here, as users can gain access to additive manufacturing with their help and without investing in their own production facilities.

In addition, start-ups will present pioneering ideas in the supporting program. Overall, the focus is on the efficient realization of parts and products, from design to series production.

Due to the strong growth, Formnext 2019 will take place for the first time in exhibition halls 11 and 12 and thus in the most modern part of the Frankfurt exhibition grounds. The high-quality and elegant architecture of the two halls in combination with the modern and spacious Portalhaus entrance building create an exceptional event environment.

Partner country USA and diverse supporting program

In 2019, the USA will be represented at Formnext for the first time as a partner country, not only presenting leading companies from the AM world such as 3D Systems, Carbon, Desktop Metal, ExOne, HP, Markforged and many others, but also offering a varied supporting program around the US Pavilion and representatives from AMUG (Additive Manufacturing Users Group), AMT (Association for Manufacturing Technology), ASME (American Society of Mechanical Engineers) and the US Commercial Service.

Wednesday, November 20, 2019, will be a "Special US Day" with various events at the pavilion and a "Closing Reception" sponsored by AMUG. In cooperation with the US Commercial Service, the internationally acclaimed Standards Forum, which was launched in 2018, will also be continued.
