Freeformer and 3D printer for liquid silicone

At Rapid.Tech 3D from May 9 to 11, 2023 in Erfurt, Arburg Additive will be presenting its Freeformer 750-3X, which processes original plastic granules, and the LiQ 5 for 3D printing of liquid silicone rubber (LSR) at booth 2-301. Together with its partner t-exact, the company will also be providing information on additive manufacturing services.

"With our freeformers from Arburg and 3D printers from innovatiQ, we offer a broad spectrum for industrial additive manufacturing," emphasizes Dr. Victor Roman, Managing Director of Arburg Additive. "The trade fair highlight is the large 750-3X freeformer, which processes the same original granulates additively in Arburg plastic freeforming faster and more economically than before as in injection molding. And innovatiQ has invented Liquid Additive Manufacturing for 3D printing with liquid silicone. Both technologies are unique on the market."

Freeformer 750-3X - fast, precise, economical

At 750 square centimetres, the Freeformer 750-3X has around 2.5 times more installation space than the Freeformer 300-3X - with the same external dimensions. This means it can produce larger functional components or additively manufacture small series industrially - even from soft materials and in hard/soft combinations.

Arburg Plastic Freeforming (AKF) with the Freeformer is an open system that offers a wide variety of materials. This allows layer decomposition, droplet size and parameters to be specifically adapted. In addition, data preparation and the Gestica control system developed and manufactured by Arburg itself have been further optimized in terms of process stability, part quality and build time. The result is reduced costs per component, even with complex geometry, integrated functions and work in the clean room.

3D printing of components made from standard silicone (LSR)

The second exhibit is a LiQ5 for LSR processing. With the actively heatable build chamber, this 3D printer from innovatiQ takes LAM (Liquid Additive Manufacturing) technology to the next level. This means that components for orthopaedics or technical seals, for example, can be printed with greater process reliability.

The innovatiQ product portfolio is complemented by the TiQ series, which processes plastic filaments using FFF (Fused Filament Fabrication) technology. innovatiQ's 3D printing systems are also based on an open material platform.

To showcase the full range of additive manufacturing services, partner t-exact from Steinbach-Hallenberg (Thuringia) will be on the stand this time to present its portfolio of services in the field of additive manufacturing, 3D analysis using computer tomography and coordinate and profile measurements.
