Vision & Control takes students to the Vision

The Suhl-based company Vision & Control is inviting 60 students from Ilmenau Technical University and selected school pupils to the Vision trade fair in Stuttgart, including bus travel and overnight accommodation. The aim is to get the young people interested in industrial image processing.

Managing Director Dr. Jürgen Geffe: "Machine vision is still a dynamically growing industrial application. There are always new fields of application that were unthinkable just a few years ago. Sensor technology, Internet 4.0 and image processing are growing ever closer together. With our component system, this vision remains intuitive and practical to use."

In this respect, Vision & Control has been working with regional research and educational institutions for many years. This includes the company's close relationship with research as a source of technological potential and, in return, the opening up of internships and the opportunity to write specialist theses through to practical support for doctorates.

Just how seriously Vision & Control takes the promotion of young talent is demonstrated by the endowed professorship at the Technical University of Ilmenau, which was founded four years ago together with industry partners. Dr. Geffe: "As part of our endowed professorship in 'Industrial Image Processing' at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at Ilmenau University, we also work closely with this university in the areas of teaching and basic research."

Vision & Control sees the invitation to the 60-strong group of students/pupils as an investment in human resources and wants to show the budding technicians what career opportunities may arise after graduation. After the last Vision trade fair (2016), several internships and technical papers were created.

Every two years, component and platform manufacturers, system providers and integrators meet at the Stuttgart exhibition center, this year from November 6 to 8. At Vision, OEMs, machine manufacturers and system houses can find out about the latest developments in the world of machine vision components. Users will meet a large number of system integrators. The complete spectrum of machine vision technology will be presented in Stuttgart.

Vision & Control is presenting innovations in all component areas at the trade fair. The developments have been successful and the first applications of the prototypes have also been promising. Dr. Jürgen Geffe emphasizes that the extensive modular system does not consist of purchased parts: "In all areas of industrial image processing, whether camera systems, lighting, lenses and software, development and production take place in-house. All components can be easily combined and coordinated from the outset." as
