Pressure sensor module

Robust pressure sensors

The MS5803 from Amsys are digital OEM sensor modules that can measure absolute pressure and temperature with high resolution (24 bit ADC). The pressure value has a resolution of 0.012 millibar and the temperature value 0.01 degrees Celsius.

The pressure sensor modules consist of a thick-film hybrid (substrate) on which a piezoresistive absolute pressure measuring cell and an Application Specific IC (ASIC) are mounted. The supply voltage range is between 1.8 and 3.6 volts. The module cyclically converts the measured pressure and temperature-dependent signals from the measuring cell into a 16-bit data word. In addition, six individual coefficients are stored in the module, which are individually determined and stored after production. These coefficients and the current measured values can be used to calculate the pressure and temperature measurement in an external microprocessor.

An I²C interface/SPI interface is used for serial communication with the microprocessor. The sensor is robust and suitable for various pressure measurement ranges between zero and 30 bar. Typical areas of application are mobile altimeters and barometric measuring systems, personal locators and navigation devices, weather stations, sports watches, devices for position control and personal monitoring. as
